A new report released by the EU today has found that 44% of European Internet users feel they are missing interesting information because web pages are not in a language that they understand and only 18% buy products online in a foreign language. Most importantly for European businesses, 42% said they never buy online in a language other than their own.

Improved handling of named entities

We have greatly increased our database of named entities (such as proper nouns). Our analysis tools can now identify named entities in text such as "Barack Obama" or "Mr. Obama" as well as millions of historical figures, towns, organizations, events and awards.

Our site-wide linguistic search also takes these in account, letting you filter out these entries from your translation lookups. This has made search faster and much more relevant when looking up that perfect translation for a word or phrase.

You can see that the term page shows multiple meanings each with a definition and possible translations in different languages. You will also see information about different forms, example usages and any related words.

You can click on the green meaning link to get more details and a meaning-centric page view.

Meaning

You see that a meaning can have a definition in each language. For private meanings you may use definitions to teach new staff or freelancers about your specific terminology and word usages.

You will notice that a meaning can also contain multiple terms in the same language (see Swedish for example). All terms are acceptable, but ones with more stars are considered preferred terms.

Context words help other people understand where this term is used. It also helps the Sprawk machine translation and web auditing to find the right meaning.

Search

This page is a multi-purpose search interface which searches terms, definitions, context words and examples. You can customize the search results by, for example, only searching definitions or limiting to certain languages.

When you have a Sprawk team, you can limit searches to only your private meanings and terms, rather than the whole Sprawk database.

Team home page

The team home page acts as a portal to the team's resources, translation projects, statistics and settings.

All team members have access to this page, but it will appear customized based on their permissions. Team administrators can authorize new team members and create temporary guest access.

You can even authorize the IP address of your office network, so that any staff member can log in with team read-only access without a password.
