About us

The sprawk website is an ideal portal to any organization's linguistic needs.  

Sprawk has been built by Transmachina, a small consulting company based in Stockholm, Sweden. We help organizations build multilingual websites, databases and information collection portals such as online questionnaires.

We have developed a large number of tools and resources to aid us in this work, and want to share them with other organizations who want to reach a new audience who speak another language, or to increase efficiency and save money by streamlining tasks that currently have to be prepared and run manually for each linguistic region.

The idea behind sprawk is that it is inefficient for organizations to each maintain their own linguistic repositories in proprietary systems and formats. In our experience, this normally means bespoke lists of terminology, word lists and notes of "correct" usage within an organization. By having a central, web-based, shared repository available to all team members (an even external people like freelance writers or translators) it is much easier and less time-consuming to engage in consistent, accurate communication with your customers.

The sprawk system even helps your organization start from a solid foundation with existing terminology in hundreds of different topics and over twenty languages. You can define certain topic areas that your organization works with, extend the existing entries and quickly and clearly mark preferred or deprecated terms and make notes to communicate these choices to team-mates.
